Sonam Kapoor In A Red Saree Plays The Perfect Host To David Beckham In India

It was a starry night in Tinsel Town on Wednesday. Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja hosted a grand welcome party for former English footballer David Beckham at their residence in Mumbai. While all eyes were on the special moment witnessing Bollywood and the sports world coming together under one roof, the fashion picks for the evening surely had our attention. Sonam Kapoor is the ultimate fashion icon and her portrayal as host was just one of the many excuses she ought to look her best. The actress looked ethereal as she took the ethnic route for the special occasion. The actress picked a red saree, from the shelves of Divyam Mehta. The loosely tied pleated drape was paired with a silk oversized blouse that brought in all the drama. The ivory-hued number allowed her to play around with the contrasting elements. It featured a V neckline with quarter-length sleeves that were attached to the floor-sweeping tassels on each side of her waist. A choker-style oxidised jewellery set with miniature beads was the perfect add-on to her traditional look. She tied her hair in a middle-parted low bun that was adorned with red roses. Kohl-rimmed eyes with a dewy base and nude glossy lips sealed it all together. Anand Ahuja, on the other hand, complemented his better half in a bandhgala paired with contrasting white straight pyjamas.

The man of the hour, David Beckham, was dressed in his casual best to pose for the shutterbugs. He wore a black T-shirt with a collared neckline and carried it in a button-down style out of his straight ankle-length trousers. The trousers' length gave the world a perfect glance at David's tan-hued ankle-length shoes. A black wristwatch was the only piece of accessory he used to complete his look.

When we said it was a starry night, we meant it literally. The celeb roll call was led by Karisma Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor's father Anil Kapoor, her cousin Arjun Kapoor with his girlfriend Malaika Arora, Shahid Kapoor with his wife Mira Rajput, Shanaya Kapoor and family, Farhan Akhtar with wife Shibani Dandekar and Ananya Birla among others. Karisma Kapoor also rested her faith on a traditional number for the night. The actress wore a heavily embellished kurta set. The gold-hued outfit featured a peplum kurta with a V-neckline and floral embellishment. Karisma carried a middle-parted sleek ponytail with her ensemble. For the final touch, she went with a multi-layered necklace with matte glam and nude pink lips.

It was “a night to remember” for Arjun Kapoor and his girlfriend Malaika Arora. Arjun was seen in an all-black look. The actor wore a black bomber jacket on matching trousers and an olive green-hued round-neck T-shirt. Malaika, as always, looked stunning in a white oversized shirt with a deep V-plunging neckline. With over-the-top collars, the shirt was tucked in a high-waist leather mini-skirt. She styled it all with see-through stockings and matching high-platform heels.

Anil Kapoor looked dapper in his aesthetically pleasing neutral colour palette. The veteran actor wore a white round-neck T-shirt with an off-white shirt and ivory-hued trousers. He completed his tone-on-tone look with white casual sneakers.

Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput were seen in their casual best. Mira jumped on the Barbiecore trend by wearing a bubblegum pink-hued latex dress. Shahid looked smart in his denim shirt with all-white trousers.

Shanaya Kapoor attended the event with her parents Maheep Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. For the occasion, Shanaya picked a black sheer floor-length dress with a thigh-high slit. She paired it with a black bikini set underneath. With a deep V-neckline, the outfit highlighted an overall white pearl style embellishments. Maheep Kapoor looked gorgeous in an orange midi dress with a thigh-high slit and square plunging neckline. She left her middle parted hair open and sided with the minimal glam. Sanjay Kapoor looked sharp in his navy blue pantsuit with a sky blue shirt.

Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar twinned in an oversized pantsuit. Farhan picked a chocolate brown blazer, while Shibani carried an edgy look in an all-black ensemble.

Ananya Birla was seen spreading monochrome magic in a lemon green formal shirt, which she tucked into the matching straight trousers. She left her hair open and styled it in beachy waves.
