After a year of cancelled and yet another year of a postponed gala of fashion's biggest, the first Monday of May goes back to normal at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The theme for this year's gala was 'In America: An Anthology Of Fashion' - Gilded Glamour. So to imagine structured corsets, ruffles, statement shoulders and more is bound to make their way to the stunning red, or should we say, pink carpet. Representing Indian roots on the esteemed carpet was Natasha Poonawalla, global icon extraordinaire who brought the saree for the first time to the ball. One look at her the gala is bound to leave you spellbound with her statement net saree. But that wasn't it; Natasha took gilded glamour to an all new level with her in a golden corset. Natasha Poonawalla's penchant to combine traditional legacies with modern couture shined through the Met Gala 2022, honestly, was there a better time than this? The Sabyasachi saree paired with the Schiaparelli corset is perhaps one of the greatest collaborations of our time and it's safe to say this one's going to be one of our favourites for times to come.

Natasha Poonawalla's sheer saree is adorned with embroidered floral designs followed by a trail as statement-making as the saree itself. This is definitely a big saree moment! A closer look at the outfit reveals her statement jewellery from Sabyasachi as well that put the magic in manic; something only Natasha Poonawalla and her creative genius could come up with.

There's no such thing as too much gold and her gilded gold Schiaparelli corset bustier was the star of her look. Gilded gold on toast was served leaving no crumbs along the way and that's Natasha for you. It stood out for obvious reasons but complemented with the saree and jewellery in ways more than one.
The Indian meets Italian blend worked their magic to dramatic effect. Anaita Shroff Adajania, take a bow!
