3 Ways To Avoid Skin Infections (Yikes!) This Monsoon
Stay safe while you enjoy the rains

Monsoon is finally here - it is a blissful time for little kids, cab companies and infections. Yes, you got that right. What? Don't you know that the rainy season brings along with it a lot more chances for all kinds of infections? Hmm. Well, then maybe you should talk to this friend of mine who fought (and won) a hard battle against the most stubborn ringworm situation that came about the last monsoon and gave him company well into the winter.

Hey, we aren't trying to kill your buzz really. We are all for some chai-pakodas, some drive in the rain, and some sitting on the balcony as the heavens bestow some pure water on us. But we are also all for taking a few precautions to make sure the monsoon infections don't get to you. Here are some things you can do to keep yourself infection free.

Keep yourself dry

Not a genius thought, of course, because we don't go walking around in wet clothes. But make sure that you stay as dry as possible and change the wet clothes ASAP. Germs and infections breed in the moisture. Carry a towel in your bag wherever you go.

Up your personal hygiene game

Clean towels, napkins, warm shower with anti-bacterial salts should be your new best friends. Make sure you don't share essentials with other people. And trust me, I am not exaggerating when I say "change your bedsheets every day". And your clothes should always be washed after a single wear.

Oversized clothes? Yes!

Now is the time to wear all those loose clothes. Not only do you have to avoid wearing tight clothes but also say a big NO to fabrics that don't let your skin breathe. Easy and comfortable (and most importantly clean) clothing is essential in monsoon as infections prosper in folds of your skin and other constricted spaces.

Apart from these things, make sure your diet is A-Okay. Immunity boosting foods, enough hydration, spicy teas, antioxidant-rich fruits should all be on your menu for sure. Stay hydrated (no pun intended). Here's wishing you a healthy monsoon.
