With the weekend almost kicking in, our Friday night plans are becoming stronger than our resolve to hit the gym. In such cases, we turn to Alaya Furniturewalla's social media to get some much-needed motivation to work out. Recently, the Freddy actress offered us a sneak peek into her yoga practise. In the video, Alaya is seen precariously hoisting herself upward, balancing deftly in position and extending her legs skyward. She captioned the video as "the joy of being able to hold my pincha stand again." What Alaya calls the "pincha stand" is traditionally Pincha Mayurasana or globally, the Forearm Stand. It involves inverting one's body and using the help of one's forearm and core strength to balance upward and extend limbs outward. The Pincha Mayurasana Yoga asana helps to build balance and as the body is inverted, allows blood flow to the brain which is believed to decrease stress and improve mental abilities.
Alaya is an ardent yoga believer. After all, incorporating yoga into daily life surely has its fresh set of benefits. Donning an all-pink sports bra with tights, the diva executed the perfect asana with grace. Supporting one hand on a not-so-hard platform, she stretched one of her legs, while the other remained bent, as she displayed her stunning flexibility and balance.
