Just as we do for everything else in life, when it comes to questions related to weight loss and fitness, we always go for surfing the internet. We have all been there, asking for quick hacks and top home remedies and what not. Especially when it comes to losing belly fat, we are swarmed with articles telling us to drink warm water and lemon as we wake up or having cinnamon before bedtime. As much as we'd like a quick fix, there is no magic potion you can drink to burn that stubborn fat. But wait, fret not! Apart from these quick fixes, here are some pointers and lifestyle changes for you which will actually work. Check them out.
Here are six effective tips for you to lose those stubborn fats from your belly:
When you consume less calories than you what you burn, your body reaches out to the stored fat for energy. Now, you can't control which part of the body this fat will be burned from, so you have to be patient and maintain the negative calorie balance till the body uses the fat from your belly.
Some people without any visual signs of obesity may still accumulate harmful amounts of hidden fat beneath the abdominal wall. To tackle this, only being in calorie deficit may not work, one would also need to fine tune their diet by eating foods that would accelerate the fat loss.
100 crunches and 200 sit ups everyday? Well, that will probably just leave you with a sore stomach. A combination of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) cardio exercises like running, battle ropes, circuit training, rowing etc., strength training and core activation exercises done at least 4-5 times a week will show significant results.
Check for hidden food allergies. Sometimes people end up losing their belly fat just by avoiding the foods that could possibly cause inflammation in the body such as gluten, dairy and lentils. One can substitute this by gluten free flours like buckwheat, ragi, jowar, bajra, oat flour or quinoa flour, rice, sweet potatoes, amaranth, seeds and nuts.
Your gut bacteria influence your metabolism in multiple ways. It decides how much nutrients you absorb, how the fat is stored, how hungry or full you feel, how much energy you absorb etc. To maintain a healthy gut is crucial for fat loss and overall health. Include prebiotic and probiotic-rich foods in your diet like coconut oil, pumpkin seeds, yoghurt, garlic, kimchi, kombucha, sauerkraut, oats, flaxseeds, barley etc.
A lot of gas and bloating in the body could give a distended look to your tummy. Keeping that in check can help your stomach look more toned. Eat foods rich in fibre, hydrate yourself well, eat small frequent meals, have herbal teas such as warm water with spices like turmeric, star anise, cinnamon, cardamom etc.
