The monsoon has found its way to our shores and amidst googling for the right routine and tips, you're bound to come across a few duds. Especially during the rains, many lend advice about hair and skin care but the sad part is, a great deal of it is untrue. Before you set your monsoon beauty routine in place, find out which myths you most definitely shouldn't believe this season.
Myth: "I don't need to wash up when I come from outside"
Fact: Anytime you step outside, dirt, dust and bacteria will find its way to you. In the monsoon, that increases manifold. With rainwater, dirt has the potential to stick to the body which often leads to skin infections and health diseases. Whenever you come indoors from outside, thoroughly wash up with an anti-bacterial solution to prevent it.
Myth: "You mustn't wear makeup during the monsoon"
Fact: There's no reason to skip makeup during the season whatsoever. However, it's important to wear the right kind of makeup. Humidity can bring out oiliness, pimples and dry patches so it's important to use lightweight products that don't aggravate it.
Myth: "Wet hair will give you a cold"
Fact: If you get caught in a sudden downpour, your grandmother might warn you of an impending cold. However, that isn't the way in which colds works. The common cough and cold is caused by a virus and simply roaming with wet hair won't cause that. Coupled with low immunity however, can make you susceptible and might make you feel chilly. Regardless, it isn't healthy to roam with wet hair so give it a quick towel dry.
Myth: "You must skip moisturiser in monsoon"
Fact: This common myth probably originated because most skin types become oily during the rainy season. Don't mistake oiliness for hydration, though. Your skin needs moisturiser even more during the monsoon and excess sebum is its way of compensating. Take the hint and moisturise.

Myth: "Water resistant makeup is good enough for the rains"
Fact: If you're picking up makeup for the monsoon and a salesperson convinces you that water resistant products are good enough, think again. Water resistant products can withstand a few splashes but sometimes, even the skin's natural oiliness can leave it smudged. You can only imagine what would happen if you get stuck in pouring rain. Waterproof makeup is more suitable for the season to withstand water exposure.
