A holiday to Goa wouldn't be complete without visiting your nearest water body; be it the hotel swimming pool or beach that's a short walk away. The sights, the sounds, the aromas of being in the water are a rare luxury enjoyed only in this part of the country. The Westin Goa is taking that experience to a brand new level. Located in the bustling hub of Anjuna in North Goa, the property encompasses their restaurant Drift, which combines a rejuvenating Goan vibe with the freshest of catches from its shores served with the Westin's signature luxurious touch.
The highlight of Drift at The Westin Goa is its highly coveted dining experience called Fresh Off The Boat which is truly, Goan dining like never before. Most visitors of Goa absolutely refuse to leave the water when they visit the state and at Drift, you don't have to when dining either. The restaurant's in-water dining experience comprises of digging into the fresh catch from the beach seated under the stars while immersing your feet in a pool of water. Yes, you heard that right. Think of it as dining outdoors in the water while still being spoiled with the luxury of the indoors.
The restaurant is situated outdoors and is partly within water for those who'd like to experience the concept dining experience. Jauntily step into the pool to high-legged seating that allows the gently moving water to lap at your feet. Surrounding the pool are massive palms and waterfalls so your meal stays wrapped in privacy from other parts of the hotel. A bar and live grill both adjoin the space, which put the theatrics of mixology and cooking on display to further soak in the ambiance. Those who aren't keen on experimenting can also dine at Drift while seated on solid ground.
At Drift, the choice of seafood is wide so whether you pick a lobster or tiger prawns, it is gently grilled until just about tender. Customize it to your taste with a spice mix that's more spicy or mild to your preference, from an earthy Cajun-style to a creamy butter garlic sauce. Served with mashed potatoes and herbed vegetables, the hearty portions of seafood oozed with that delightfully fresh taste of the sea. The bar menu will spoil you for choice and with so many local spirits to offer, the mixologist's suggestions are treasured. He might even whip you up a custom cocktail based on your choice of spirit, if you're lucky. No meal is complete without dessert and though Drift's selection of sweet treats is concise, it does feature key favourites like Indian mithai and walnut brownies with ice-cream. Both were a delectable choice to end the meal on a sweet note.
At Drift, ambiance is not just king but the emperor. Concept dining like this becomes a treasured memory for the photo album. While wrapped in an oasis of green as the soothing sounds of running water abound, freshly cooked seafood straight off the grill and divine cocktails are enjoyed even further. There's something so captivating about eating dinner while immersed in water and especially if you're from the city and water bodies are a rarity, it's an experience you simply cannot afford to miss out on when you head to Goa.
