We may be safely tucked in our homes but style doesn't take a break. It's fashion month across the world and in India, it arrived with FDCI India Couture Week 2020, which has gone completely digital this time around. Designer Manish Malhotra closed the curtains for the stylish week with his Fall Bridal '20 collection titled Ruhaaniyat, which saw Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor play showstopper on the virtual runway.
Looking absolutely resplendent, Ms. Kapoor donned a pistachio bridal lehenga and dipped neckline blouse encrusted with gold sequin and bead work. A sheer dupatta with glittering borders was draped across and added to the ethereal charm of the outfit. Opulent bridal jewellery added completeness to Janhvi's ensemble, which featured a maang tikka, haath phool and multi-layered choker necklaces.
Ruhaaniyat by Manish Malhotra breaks away from speedy couture and revitalises slow and purist workmanship using age-old craft and techniques. A reinterpretation of old-world regalia, the exquisite collection features zari woven borders in original gold and silver, voluminous silhouettes, hand-basted and hand-quilted fabrics in tones of green, grey, pink and maroon. Says Manish Malhotra, "Ruhaaniyat is my tribute to all the artisans and craftsmen of our country who have left the fingerprints of their art onto our heritage culture."

Janhvi Kapoor, who made her debut as a fashion week showstopper at Lakme Fashion in 2018, was a fitting choice for Manish Malhotra's show as an epitome of the modern bride as well as a loyal patron of his designs. Ethnic wear has been a fashion choice that Janhvi seems to be passionate about. Her previous outing in a green and gold Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga with heavy embroidery and chandbali earrings set the fashion meter soaring.
She captioned this photo, "Can I live in this saree forever?" and as an Indian wear lover, we believe her intentions completely. Her pink and orange mirror work saree by Arpita Mehta was a bright and zesty breath of fresh air.
