We all witnessed history on May 6 with the coronation ceremony of King Charles III held in Westminster Abbey. The ceremony is a symbolic coming together of the royal family, church and the state. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the country throws one big party for the monarch. Many entertainers from around the world arrived in London to make this grand party a spectacle for the books. One of the most pleasant surprises from the event was the entry of Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor. She arrived on stage for her spoken introduction, but that was not the only thing we were excited about. A fashionista in the global sense, we took a keen interest in seeing what she wore for this historic event. She was seen wearing an ornately designed gown. Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead are two designers one can often spot Sonam Kapoor in and so it was an obvious choice for her to pick them for this huge moment too. Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead collaborated to create a gown that celebrated the former's floral design style with the latter's silhouette. Sonam Kapoor, deep-rooted in tradition, ensured she put the Indian map on the global stage, and sure she did. Sonam Kapoor may reside in London for the most part but she is as Indian as possible. It was easy to spot Anamika Khanna's floral designs trailing down in shades of blue, green and red. The ivory gown with a voluminously sculpted skirt and a flattering bodice makes it hard to ignore Sonam Kapoor when she is on the stage. It is clear what the indicative memo was. For hair and makeup, Sonam Kapoor made sure that no stone was unturned on that front either. Her exaggerated gown was complemented with soft browns for the eyes, blush pinks for the cheek and lip, and a flawless even complexion and her hair was styled in soft waves to keep the unpredictable London weather away from spoiling her big fashion moment.
