With festive and wedding seasons coming up, we are already loving the new style trends in ethnic dressing that have started doing the rounds. From the looks of it, this year is going to be all about bold, luxurious colours. While it's hard to imagine looking away from shimmery pastel hues that have been ruling the style charts, renowned fashion designers are giving us all the reasons to welcome vibrant hues into our ethnic wear wardrobe this year with their stylish and contemporary collections. A particular colour that's been getting special attention is none other than purple.
Purple, which is often associated with royalty and luxury, is turning out to be a favourite with our Bollywood celebs too. A case in point is fashionista Sonam Kapoor, who recently walked the ramp as the showstopper for the unveiling of luxury jewellery brand Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jaipur's royal collection called 'Delhi Durbar'. Dressed in an exquisitely designed purple lehenga-choli by designer Jayanti Reddy, and adorned with statement jewellery from the brand, Sonam looked regal. While of course the stunning jewellery was hard to gaze away from, it was also Sonam's attire that instantly set style inspirations. In rich purple, the silk lehenga-choli had intricate floral embroidery detail in gold, and included the season's love for stripes too.

Talk about setting trends in ethnic dressing, and one can't leave out designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee from the conversation. Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma recently wore a stunning ethnic suit by Sabyasachi for one of the promotional events from her upcoming film Sui Dhaaga. The long kurta had delicate embroidered detail in floral patterns and to give it a modern update was a matching striped dupatta. With statement earrings and sleek hair-do, Anushka's look was a lesson in chic ethnic dressing.
Designer Tarun Tahiliani too has included purple or shades of aubergine in his new collection of occasion wear. Be it lehenga-choli, saree, sharara set or an evening gown, each outfit is skillfully crafted with shimmery embellishments and intricate embroidery that will make you fall in love with the classic hue.
