New Year resolutions are practically a necessity when the previous year comes to a close but this time around, we're past the usual list of losing weight and cutting out alcohol. We'd like to follow through with a list of resolutions for the New Year but ones which are actually do-able and will make your life better in the bargain. Who wouldn't say no to that? 1. Prioritize Needs Over Wants

Avoid unnecessary impulsive short term spends to save for larger expenses you want in the long term. Spend on what is necessary for your comfort and survival and save the rest. Once you save enough, you will find yourself with a tidy nest egg that you can afford to spend on wants and luxuries.

2. Spend Time In Nature

It's easy to get caught up in the daily regime of laptops, tablets, TVs and phones but unknowingly, the constant exposure to blue light can affect your body and your mood as well. Your body reacts in the opposite way when it is in nature surrounded by the grass, the sky, the wind and the clouds. Make it a point to spend 20-30 minutes daily in nature as it will reduce negative emotions and positively affect your mood to a great extent.

3. Make Something Physically

Creating something with your own two hands is one of the most fulfilling activities and is much more satisfying than doing the same digitally. Pick up a productive hobby like baking, gardening or painting that involves physically creating something from scratch and when you do it regularly enough, you'll find yourself not just fulfilled but with a new skill to boot too.

4. Be Kind

You never know what someone else is going through so before you react, take a second and step back. Kindness is a language that is understood across boundaries, territories and countries. It doesn't take much effort to give kindness but to the receiver, it will mean so much.

5. Declutter Your Life

Look around you and you'll see that most of what is around you doesn't need to be there. Clear your space of unnecessary clothing, decor or utensils by donating or selling what is not needed. Not only will it refresh your living area, it will also allow for fresh thought and new ideas.
