From vegetables to groceries to medicines, companies such as Amazon, BigBasket, 1mg, Paytm and Swiggy have been stepping up the game for contactless transactions. Even startups like StoreSe, JustMyRoots and Dunzo are not far behind. Thanks to the lockdown, many of us have already spoken about the "new normal" - a world with as little physical interactions as possible. In such a world, it would seem that minimising points of physical contact would be the way forward. Here are a list of startups who have taken up their game at the moment to give you some respite during the pandemic.
Here's the list of online platforms for essentials home delivered in a contactless manner:
JustMyRoots is a community-based e-commerce platform where products and services from different communities are available under the same roof. It delivers fresh fruits and vegetables in cities like Kolkata, Gurugram, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. It also delivers seafood and meat from vendors who follow the safety norms. Serving a daily order volume of 300 plus, JustMyRoots partners with selected distributors of FMCG companies for its stock and delivers the products through a third-party delivery app along with its own fleet.
A recently launched 24-hour online grocery shopping platform that helps citizens to order groceries and other essentials from their trusted local offline stores. It has also started operations in the Delhi NCR region to ease out grocery shopping while promoting local grocery stores.
The start-up has tied up with offline retail brands such as Vishal MegaMart, Modern Bazaar, Metro Cash & Carry, MORE, and leading cab aggregators such as Ola and Meru for a 24-hour delivery service.
Online delivery service Dunzo has tied up with stores pan India for delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as medical supplies. Apart from that, local grocery shops are taking orders via WhatsApp. Once your order is confirmed, they pack it and keep it ready. All you need to do is go and pick up. Founded by Dalvir Suri, Mukund Jha, Kabeer Biswas, and Ankur Aggarwal in 2015, Dunzo provides hyperlocal delivery services. Additionally, it also fulfils door-to-door courier services and on-demand deliveries of non-essential items as well.
In Maharashtra, while the state government announced that vegetable markets could remain open 24/7 to meet the demands, Agrify Organic Solutions, a Mumbai-based startup has volunteered to home deliver fresh vegetables and fruits and has been working round the clock with 500 farmers in Nashik to ensure the same.
GreenDesk is the brainchild of Himanshu Agarwal, who came up with the idea when he noticed a huge price difference in vegetables sold online, in grocery stores, and in the local mandi. The company was launched in October 2016 in Himanshu's native Jaipur, starting with three clients and 90 orders per month, using the mandi as a supplier. Through more research, they were able to source produce directly from the farmers. Eliminating the middle man proved crucial in their expansion, as the 600 farmers they deal directly with now supply to more than 60 clients across the country with over 1000 orders per month.
