Italian Cuisine Could Receive UNESCO World Heritage Recognition By December 2025

Italian cuisine, in general, is comfort food for many. It is not limited to pizza and pasta but includes other popular dishes too like lasagna, risotto, tiramisu, gelato, and many more delicious treats. When you are too bored to cook or too tired to go out, you simply order a pizza and enjoy a hearty meal. Italy has given us so much in terms of food so it is only fair to reward it generously. From traditional family recipes, homemade sauces, and wood-fired pizza to quaint eateries serving mouth-watering food and family-owned restaurants, Italy is more than pretty streets alone. Reportedly, the Italian Government in late March 2023, officially announced that it was nominating the nation's cuisine as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage element. According to the nomination documents, the cuisine is responsible for shaping bio-cultural diversity and you can blame them?

Italian cuisine ranges from pizzas to roasts and creamy gelatos

In 2017, the Neapolitan-style pizza making- the art of Neapolitan Pizzaiolo was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list. The protection, dictated annually, comprises "cultural practices and expressions of intangible heritage," according to the UNESCO site.
